[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

She's back.   In going through the Spotify site I found this:

So to hold them accountable ... Follow the steps below:

Send the question. I realize that Tech has enough problems of its own BUT they may not have received the message yet.

Ok I'm done it is up to the rest of you to go beyond this community site to let Spotify know that we need this feature.

I've been subscribed to this thread for a year, even after cancelling my account and movng to Apple Music (which is the only service that allows you COMPLETE control over filtering for both yourself AND your kids. Google only allows filtering of their radio feature). I held out hope that Spotify might get this done but at this point I don't even care. Their complete lack of response and respect for their customers is appalling and nothing will ever get me back on ther service. Spotify, you're dead to me. As much as I have enjoyed reading the daily posts on this thread from people angry, confused and holding out false hope that they'd actually do something I'm done. I'm unfollowing this thread deleting my account and putting Spotify in the rear view mirror forever. For anyone reading this thread for the first time, save yourself the frustration. If you need filterig go elsewhere. It's been 4 years. Spotify is beyond arrogant and has no intention of changing. They don't deserve your money.

Booger please dont go. We need you to keep hammering away, remember the flea and the elephant === and remember, as cliche as it may sound , all that filth needs to flourish is for good people to stand by and do nothing. Society as a whole seems to have accepted this but if they were called to full awareness of course spotifys attitude would be rejected by the masses. I can remember a time when even the lowest thug would watch his language in front of women, and of course in front of children there was no question. Is Spotify now saying we are wrong and these principles are no longer important? Even demanding that WE change to suit their new standards? Keep plugging away --888margo888 you are right try this it will at least annoy them and force a little more recognition of the problem. Streaming music is an exploding industry with huge benefit for everybody. Anyone that tries to modify the way it is implemented can be a small part of history - we need you and others to get this done!

I'm just baffled why Spotify think this is something that has to be 'considered'. It's blatantly obvious that you should be able to filter out explicit lyrics #shakesheadincompletedisbelief

Still no explicit filter? Come on, Spotify! What could possibly be the reason for not including this?

The tagged "solution" in this thread by MrE7 is not a solution. It is a suggestion on how to resolve. Spotify still has no ability to exclude explicit tracks. How do we unmark this "solution" so it can be reconsidered?

I have the Apple Music family plan and would love to switch back to Spotify. However, not being able to filter out explict lyrics is a deal breaker for me.

 yes please

For what it's worth, just adding my voice to the growing chorus of people pleading for a simple feature that unforunately it seems Spotify will never implement. Whilst listening to 'acoustic afteroon' at dinner time with my two young daughters, a track came on that my wife immediately recognised but couldn't place. It went like this "from my neck to my back lick my p*ssy and my cr*ck" in an ironic acoustic cover stylee. As my wife realised what was coming she threw down her knife and fork then managed to dive for the skip button before the offending lyric despoiled the calm, acoustic afternoon vibe. Nice work Spotify you bunch of dummies. Now implement the darn explicit button. Really is it such a big a deal for you? Are you happy that your service has created this situation for us? Our account will shortly be cancelled and I have already signed up with Google Music, later suckas.
