[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

When are spotify going to produce this.... it has been awhile and has had 4000 more likes and loads of comments...professionally when playing inside a work environment would be helpful not to have these come up. Thanking you in advance

It looks like the last post from Spotify was from November 2015.  This post has been going for four years.  Is it really that hard to filter songs that have explicit content from a playlist or create playlists in each category that provides non-explicit content?  Is it a legal issue with artists?  Please provide a current update with the plans to address this concern with Spotify members.  I am a premium member and should be able to select what I hear coming across my own equipment and protect those which are within listening proximity.  Thank you for continuing to review the concerns of the Spotify community.

I'm a teacher.  I can only use spotify in class if I create my own playlist, which is really time consuming. They just want to hear todays top hits, I just want to play what they want to hear, but I can't because of all the explict songs.  I can't devote lesson planning time to creating playlists that work.  Please help me navigate this easier.

I agree with these other comments - one of the most important features to me as a listener is the ability to filter out songs with explicit lyrics. I love spotify for other reasons but that one missing feature is a BIG deal.

As a side note, it adding a "Kudos" to a post like this really does take too much effort. The only reason I followed through with it is because this feature is so important to my experience as a user.

Please make this happen. It would be really useful to protect my children from inappropriate material / language.

I don't want to download the app for my kids unless I can turn off explicit lyrics.  Please set up an option in the settings!!

Spotify,

You do not care aboutj this feature obviously. It has been 4 years, it looks like, people have been requesting this info. You'd have so many more customers with this feature. People would be able to subscribe to spotify for work instead of crappy pandora. How ignorant can you be? Really?

I agree. Not only with my family, but if I'm listeninf at work I always fear for an "F" bomb to drop and everyone hear it (I work at a church too, so it makes it even worse). I usually filter out those songs when creating playlists, but sometimes there are really good premade ones, but they curse all the time, so this feature would be so! nice.

This is very frustrating. I hate the artistic integrity argument. Radio edits are already completely normal. There is no reason why the new "radio" formats of our generation (e.g., Spotify, Pandora) should force explicit content on its listeners. Pandora can filter. Why can't you?! Please add this feature

I am wrting to request the addition of  feature to the desktop and mobile versions of Spotify that would allow for disabling play on songs that Spotify has tagged as "EXPLICIT". This feature allows me as a user and subscriber to your service to filter songs that I am choosing to play based on a category that Spotify has created.

Thank you
