[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I'm getting tired of paying for this service and having to be careful where I play it, just give the option, it doesn't mean you have to edit all just give us the option to turned off explicit music. Just like you know... EVERY OTHER MUSIC APP...

As many others have already commented, spotify cannot be widely used at different events or functions because you have not way of controlling what type of lyrics will be played. Due to explicit content Spotify is not my go to streaming radio content. Having a content filter would increase and improve the usability for me and I would definitely always use it. Please add a filter for explicit lyrics.

The use case for children and filtering is obvious, but I'd also like to force explicit on becuase sometimes edited/clean versions are done poorly, or maybe I just wanna hear some swears

We understand and support choice. Give us two buttons - click explicit only
or click no explicit. When someone is at work or home with children or
supporting the Spotify Family Plan we should be able to say no explicit for
young children. Some of the lyrics are very explicit and Spotify has the
printed lyrics as well. People change and have different stages. A 19 year
old might be happy listening to explicit. Please join the movement to
choose what each of us want for our situations. We do not want to deny you
your choice. We only want to be able to choose for our needs.

This thread dates from 2012!  What the flip Spotify?  The tags are already there, just allow us to exclude explicit songs.

Is there any movement on this feature whatsoever?

Brilliant idea. It would be also awesome on spotify radio, less diving on my phone or tablet when thunderpants is listening to music with me lol

Come on Spotify! Give your customers a choice, other than to go to another streaming service.

If (as I've been reading elsewhere) your delay in providing this facility is for philosphical reasons rather than technical then, surely, this is the height of intellectual arrogance and intolerance?

I'm going to give it until July '16 then, if there's no movement on this, I will vote with my feet: close my account and go elsewhere.

I am a teacher and love playing music in my classroom.  Only problem is that I don't want explicit lyrics played so I agree with everyones thoughts and concerns in this thread.

I think another good feature (and probably has already been mentioned here) is to have an option to flag songs that are explicit when they say they are not.

Just my thoughts.
