[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Google music = 3 months free... Try it and cancel if you don't like it!
I cancelled my spotify premium within a week when Google proved to me it was not just equal to, but better than spotify:1) You get music videos via youtube2) YouTube red which means no ads on YouTube3) Upto 10 devices simultaneously... Spotify is 1. This means my whole family can listen at the same time (spotify wants you to pay more for their family plan)4) I think the playlist and "browse" options are better than spotify5) With Google taking their first payment this coming August, Google saved me $30 to switch6) IT HAS AN EXPLICIT FILTER!!!!!
Google = 6Spotify = 0

Great info. Thanks for sharing. People need to remember, they have a choice.
Spotify can either give the option to remove explicit content or have us
remove our membership. No reason to stress about it.

I think we are more bewildered than stressed

Disappointed about the explicit content.

Came to spotify to test it out.

Played some songs during breakfast.

3rd song in the *uck word appeared.

Have to reevaluate the trial I guess.

I was told by Spotify Customer Support that I have to search for all available versions of the song I want and choose accordingly, and that Spotify does not censor music. I think they've missed the point.

Also there is another issue; some songs with explicit lyrics are not marked as such and are included on seemingly clean playlists.

I just switched from Pandora because my friends said how great spotify is.  My friends don't have kids and I do.  Every other song is filled with F@($ this and F@(% that.

I can't believe that there is no filter or option!!!  I was going to upgrade to premium but now I'm probably going to cancel.

For the love of all that is musical can we please have the option to listen to a playlist without swearing?

I cannot understand why this isn't an option yet.  I can go on to almost any other website and there is a safe filter so why not on here? More and more playlists contain explicit songs and I'm fed up with it.

I've been a premium member for a couple of years and would happily pay for the option to listen to the music I choose to.  Oh wait, isn't that what Spotify is all about?

Apparently not.

Get a move on Spotify or we're off somewhere else.

I have really enjoyed Spotify.  It does everything I want it to do except this one thing.  Unfortunately, it is time to find a new service.  I am willing to sacrifice some of the features I enjoy about Spotify in order to be able to listen while my kids are around.  Sorry Spotify, not being able to filter out explicit lyrics is a deal breaker for me.

This is a growing issue for me too.

Songs are flagged as containing explicit lyrics already so I would think it fairly trivial to add a play non-explicit button wherever play buttons appear or if easier add a setting to toggle for this purpose and leave the play buttons alone.

Not sure why this thread is marked as solved?
