[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This is no longer a community forum Spotify have taken control with this "improvement" - lost navigation and inability to follow threads. Bye bye Spotify Apple music now looks a lot better with parental control AND a mini player. The law is an **bleep** that allows our kids to be exposed to this and it is no use arguing with a donkey - or spotify either

CENSORSHIP gone mad! My **bleep** above was a donkey  but Spotify dont know what is explicit foul language or not -

Obviously Spotify doesn't want this thread to be visible so they removed the navigation bar from the threads. Well done Spotify... I guess you have enough subscribers to not care about your subscribers or their children....

You may want to remove the number of comments in this thread as well so it looks like no one really cares....

Is it possible that Spotify are really doing their best and this is it? I am going to keep plugging away because our kids are worth it

Bluemanta

I doubt. Apple Music had this filter from day one. They have the same number of songs (about 30M). Pandora had this filter from day one.

Rhe tongs are already flagged as explicit (you can see the explicit tag attached to songs when browsing music....

From software development this should be really a few lines of code which really requires minimal effort (I have strong background with software development)....

So i really not sure why they are reluctant to address this concern. I myself fail to see any business justification to not doing so because once they implement this it will open up an entire new market (families with kids) for them....

even in the form of opening a dialogue here in the forum.... but they have been very quiet about this....

**bleep** nah stop sheltering your kids. You cant hide the little ones from this type of stuff they are going to hear it anyways. Just teach them to understand it.

the issue is they teach me... scary 🙂
