[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Hi Spotify, some very good points have been raised on this thread and I think you should implement the explicit filter feature.

Bend over and s#%"$d em, girl/ Show me those p@@~# p&*&^"/ Rub that a@@ and play with that *&^%/ You know I like that freaky %$"&/ I like the way you lick the champagne glass/ It makes me wanna @#;@* my #~@* in your *:@@

Woa, what was that?  It was all nice and then suddenly it went all nasty with no warning.  And no option to stop it.  That's exactly what your app does.  Except I filtered it in case any children read this, or people who are at work, or who just don't want to hear it.

Not my words above by the way, they're the words of someone called 2 Live Crew and their tune Pop That ?*&&#.  They seem like nice chaps.

Anyway, I've had enough of this being ignored.  Me and my subscription are off to Apple Music. #SpotifyNotSafeForFamilies.

Frogster,

The really **bleep**ty part about all this is you wouldn't have to manually
filter it here. Spotify censors the forums

Been wanting to quote lyrics for some time now so glad you did. Of course we cannot use the words that are in the songs on the forum or we get kicked off. As much as I like so many other parts of Spotify service July 1 is coming up and it will be time for the divorce if the explicit button is not available. Not a threat a promise.

I quote lyrics periodically and I've never been kicked. They just **bleep**ing
censor them in this darn forum

I was divorced from Spotify a long time ago - I just use the forum to keep in touch and see how things are going. Like a  partner in any relationship who has to leave because the other partner was abusing the children, I need to keep in touch (through my solicitor this forum) to try to see that justice is done. Unfortunatly the other party will not respond and apparently has other abusive relationships at present according to this forum

will need to try it 🙂

So currently, the following services offer the option to filter explicit content:

1. Pandora ($4.99/m)

2. Google Play Music ($9.99/m)

3. Apple Music ($9.99/m)

Seem to me enough options to Spotify....

only so much energy and money can be invested in trying to protect our
right to choose our music which is THEIR vision mission
statement...............such a simple request asked by so many - so few
dictating their choice to refuse a simple procedure to the many.

We tried.

It is so sad to me because there are many things that I like about Spotify
but their core is dirty. That means I can support that dirt or give up my
playlists that took 4 years to create, give up their new music suggestions,
and give up other people's playlists that have good music. As the song said
breaking up is had to do. I will listen to my playlists one last time, log
out and move on.

I am unsubscribing from the premium service because of this inability.
