[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

LOL... They just bleeped me saying intercourse the proper way in my last post but won't give us a button to shut off explicit songs from playing to our kids. Freedom of being raunchy and detailed about it in your song but you cant say s e x or you will be bleeped. Amazing! LOL!!!!

This is ridiculous.  Why would spotify not provide this feature?

johncats

No explicit tracks

Our music team makes sure you can only play music that's safe for work or around the kids.

I'm cancelling the family plan and going to Apple Music for one reason!!!!!!!!! Can't turn off EXPLICIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really?

I can't figure out why this hasn't been a super basic feature from the very beginning? I mean, I'm no coding genius, so maybe this is the most difficult thing in the coding world. Probably not. I can only assume Spotify just doesn't see a need for it (despite people asking for it), and therefore it's not a priority -- and therefore reason for me to give my $10 to someone else? Well, ok fine.

Seriously!!!   4 years later and they still have not done this.

It is NOT complicated (in fact one user wrote an app for it but Spotify refused it)

So, obviously, this is not important to spotify.  I have had my subscription for 1 month and now I will cancell it.

Spotify already have an explicit filter - business model. They can do it, they know it is worth it. It just seems that premium subscribers are not the target of their "Safe for Kids and at work" campaign

I'm leaving too. Shame, my kids loved the freedom of unlimited tracks but then started getting explicit lyrics - they're all under 9 so too early for that. I hope Apple Music is as good but with this filter!!

This feature would be amazing, we could listen to music without stressing about what might pop up on the next song.

This is a great idea, but it will never happen. They have the ability to do this easily, but I've lost all faith in Spotify. I cancelled my premium membership for this exact reason and went to Google. They've had this option from day one. In fact, I can't think of a single streaming service other than Spotify that doesn't have this feature. The lesson we can all learn from this is that Spotify doesn't listen to their users.
