[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Just thought everyone might want to know that Apple Music is offering 3 months free to try their service. We're canceling Spotify and giving it a try. I'm not only tired of this issue going unaddressed, but I'm even more tired of the condescending, fake replies Spotify Cares gives when this issue is brought up. It's completely unprofessional and frankly I'm disgusted at whoever has instructed their social media employees to respond that way.

please allow the filtering of poor content

I am testing out the family account and I am kind of stunned that I can't filter explicit content for younger kids.  Unfortunate.

Trialing the family account and a little surprised I can't filter out explicit around the kids.  Unfortunate.

Thank you @tfbruin for your comment.  I was literally crying with laughter as I read it out 🙂

Added to some very adult themed podcasts that are really inappropriate for kids this surely is a really important feature to add as a priority

dprophet

just do the filter.

Official spotify comment but note the date

Status changed to: Under Consideration

Hello folks,

We really understand this can be really frustrating and we have heard a lot of feedback on this (both songs and ads). Since this is happening and we really care, we are going to mark this idea as "Under Consideration".

We can´t promise we are going to build a button but we are really looking into this now and working on the best ways in order to solve this in the settings.

We are truly sorry for the inconveniences this is causing to all of you and understand your big concerned on this matter. We will update you as soon as we get news.

Thanks for you feedback and contribution.

I personally never listen to 'clean' versions, nor does anyone I know, but I can imagine it might be useful for people with religious family and whatnot. Kuddos given!

The main thing here is spotify have sold a "family" package and under that
package there should be an option to filter explicit content as currently
it's no "family" friendly. I'm not religious in the slightest and don't
mind swearing in songs, my kids listening to it as an explicit song has
randomly come on is not so acceptable !
All other services offer this feature as standard even on single accounts.
If your going to promote "family" plans, then make them so.
On a side note as this is really annoying me, I've contacted the
advertising agency in the UK as I bought a product from spotify (family)
plan and it's not as described;) I will let you know ow how that proceeds
