[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

The inability to choose whether or not I can listen to edited music  going to cause me to cancel my subscription definitely. If I am paying for music I should be able to enjoy it the way that I like (CLEAN). To bad because the music variety is great.

I'm pretty close to abandoning Spotify due to it's explicit album art and lyrics. No filter means I may not be a customer anymore.

Can u just swap explicit versions for the radio edits which are cleaner?

I want the option to block explicit lyrics!

My language gets foul when I hang out and/or work with people that consistently uses foul language. It's very similar when I listen to explicit lyrics. (I actually listen to the lyrics like a story or a movie.)

My language also gets foul from explicit lyrics. I have kids that I try to keep from using foul language...

How is this service usable on Sonos when I have a young family without this option! Surely Spotify has a responsibility to offer the option of a filter for any song that has a Parental Advisory stamp on the cover! It may not get every song (if it doesn't have the stamp) but that wouldn't be Spotify's issue; and would be a start! Please!!

I cancelled my premium subscription last week just because of this. My kids are now enjoying Apple Music and I'm content knowing they can't listen to things I don't think they should be listening to.

This is a huge deal. The fact that you don't have this is probably one of your biggest sources of conversions to other platforms. I work in an office and can no longer play spotify at my desk because I never know when a playlist is going to come out with something obscene with coworkers around and client on the phone. Crazy.

Ok guys, I'm really sick of this and wanted to let you know that I have tried and tried to see if this avenue works and it's not.  So I looked elsewhere to see what could be done.  I found the CEO and founder on Twitter.  The funny thing is his twitter reads as follows: Daniel Ek @eldsjal Father, CEO and Founder of Spotify. The fact that he is proud to be a father you would think he would think like us.  Anyway, I messaged him about this and no response.  I also found Angela Watts, VP Global Communications,Spoitfy.  She is the mother of a 10 year old, 6 year old and a new born. I sent her an email, angela@spotify.com, it came back that she was on maternity leave.  Once again, no response.  You would think that these two people would be at the fore front like us to make sure we keep our children safe from explict music, but it seems not.  I beg all you to do the same as me.  Tweet them and email them till they're sick of hearing from us or will see the light as a parent and get us what we need.  A SIMPLE BUTTON TO TURN OFF EXPLICT TRACKS!!!!!!!!!

I get in the car and Spotify starts playing some discover weekly about shooting n1ggers with my kids in the car.  Wife gets pissed I don't even like that kind of trash.  Seriously fukc spotify.  You don't want to hear cuss words in your forum but you are fine blaring that trash at my family.  This is my last month on this platform.  I'm cancelling my sub and moving to Apple, as much as I hate their stuff it looks like my only decent option since you refuse to allow a filter on something you already track and label in your database.
