[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I'd like to see a filter not just for explicit words, but also for adult subject matter as well. Take care of that, and I'm a family plan subscriber.

SpotifyDad

PLEASE add this...I can't fully use the service with the family around. I'm going to need to switch if you don't get this right.

I let the music play at our sports practices and next thing I hear are F Bombs. Not trying to censor...if someone wants that, fine...I just DON'T.

Kampo12

This is a great idea. I want my kids to enjoy music on Spotify but am sick and tired of the number of "F" bombs in many songs these days. Why can't there be an option for "radio edit" !!

Birixiote

Any update on this? I would really love this setting that way I can play Spotify in front of my son. I am a paid member and wouldn't hesitate to switch to a competitor (who has this setting) if something is not implemented soon. I really hope you guys are working on this..

Having an explicit content filter is a requirment for use at my office. Otherwise no go.

Yes, please. I would love to see this request be added, even if it was just a Premium feature.

eroussel

Would also love this feature. Surprised that Spotify would not have included this when creating family subscriptions?

This would be a great **bleep**ing idea. Yes punn intended. Why with so many of us with kids etc that don't want swearing words are not being listened too. This makes me want to swear.

Baldy881

I'm running out of cough to cover the naughty words when my 1 and 5 year old are listening. They love Spotify, but the swearing means they have to miss A LOT of it. Also be useful for family BBQ's etc when streaming tunes with the mother present...
