[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Since Spotify doesn't believe in filtering, in the words of Niki Minaj, they can go "lick my **bleep** like a cupcake". Let's see you filter that Spotify!

I'd like to use Spotify in my art class but I really dont need kids hearing the F and N words.

I am glad I did the 30 day trial . I definitely cannot use Spotify in my classroom if they don't fix this problem . I heard good things about Spotify , but right off the bat I can see Pandora has a much better system running . I really cannot understand why Spotify refuses to allow the customization that both Google Play and Pandora allows

Obviously spotify has no interest in giving parents the option of getting rid of explicit lyrics. There have been comments and votes or kudos and ideas about this for 4 years!! Not mention, i tried to add my vote and it won'the allow it. Really?! I canceled my premium "family" subscription... after realizing my kids' choices were nursery rhymes or risk hearing explicit lyrics. It's a shame! I really do like all that spotify offers! If this one thing could be done!

Please add this! I listen almost all day at work and it'd give me access to all the playlists I've created over the past 3-4 years instead of sticking to a few "safe" ones. Same goes for the artist radio or daily mix type random song playlists.

Would love to vote for this, but it's greyed out despite my premium account.  PLEASE ADD PARENTAL CONTROLS to the next update!

But doesn't eveone realize that spotify consider this issue to be solved?

I just had a visual cruise through a few authored local and global playlists. There obviously is a market for a rising tide of music that likes to push the boundaries. An analogy can be found in the rising tide of junk food buyers. To each his own, in a free world "just dont hurt anybody" could be a fine maxim. But in the same way as most junk food outlets provide waste disposal to discourage refuse littering far and wide, and tongue in cheek provide "healthy alternatives" perhaps Spotify could provide a garbage bin in the way of an explicit filter. Come on spotify, do what you want as far as artistic choice goes, but as the children point out "just so long as you don't hurt anybody".

Going to move to Apple music for a family subscription as I don't want my kids listening to unsuitable lyric content. This is such a basic feature I didn't even check if Spotify had it before I signed up to premium.... idiotic..!!
