[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I just found out last night that my 12 yo boy has been listening to crude inappropriate music that degrades and objectifies women.   Unless parental controls or monitoring ability becomes available ASAP I will have to cancel some accounts.    Additionally, as a community leader I feel compelled to let other parents know they may want to reconsider their kids Spotify accounts.

Its also good for being in a workplace. A filter like a radio would-be nice

If you have been seriously attempting to create a filter for explicit content then you ought to be embarrassed by how long it is taking. If you are not already attempting to create a filter then you ought to be ashamed because you obviously do not care about your customers. Stop pretending to care about having a filter. If you actually cared about our feedback it would be done by now. Stop pretending to care so that people who want to enjoy clean music can take their business elsewhere. Seriously, it's pathetic.

I have long ago cancelled my subscription, I stick around on this thread to
just let people know that spotify has no intention of doing this filter.
Threatening to leave will have no affect. Just leave and use one if the
other music services that does offer the filter.

I vote for explicit content filter button.

But how do I do that?

Looks like many people are requesting this but Spotify are not acting on it. Feel they really have a responsibility to listen to their customers. This is an important function for families.

Surely this feature is essential now you have the Premium for Family subscription.

Bmozisek, what music service did you switch to?

Bmozisek
I went with Google music. It will filter explicit content from the radio
stations.
