[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

You can see where their priorities lie. Can't even think about playing anything top 40. At least real readio stations do the right thing. Oh yea... let me up-vote or down-vote stuff I don't want to hear.. (Remember Rdio? The did that quite well!)

Yes, Spotify apparently has a corporate policy to non-respond to this issue so as to attempt to force obscene content upon our families.  It's not going to work.

I cancelled, and am busy now telling all my friends and people in my company to do the same.

Probably the worst company for customer service I have encountered in years.  I'll be sharing that experience also, every opportunity I get.

Please allow us, the customers, the option to filter the music WE listen too.  This puts the burden of censorship on the customer and not on Spotify.  This allows ALL your customers to listen to the music as THEY see fit.  It just makes sound business sense.  Happy customers, better business.

Well. Spotify. It has been a great relationship. Unfortunately Your lack of response has caused me to realize I've spent 120 on you this year. That 120 songs I could own and still use my djay app. Come 2017 - Hello Apple Music. Best wishes to you.

This would be very useful for me. I could use spotify for the office without earphones.

Yes, please fix this major product flaw! I basically can't listen to several of the Spotify playlists because I never know if there will be swearing in the songs or not...

So I see the idea of adding an ability to filter has been around since 2012, yet Spotify says they hear their users want it and haven't added this feature after all this time without any pledge to add it.  I'm in the market right now for a family streaming plan.  If Spotify offered a filter option I'd go for Spotify but since it's lacking looks like I'll move my accounts to Apple Music.

This is a great idea. Come on Spotify how hats can this be?! Make your awesome service even better

I am looking to take out a family sub but not without this feature, I have two girls 6&9. How could I let them listen to for example

little mix - Forget that boy, I'm over it
I hope she gettin’ better **bleep**
Hope she ain't fakin’ it like I did, babe

Zayne - A place that is so pure, so dirty and raw
In the bed all day, bed all day, bed all day
**bleep**ing in and fighting on

I will be looking at alternatives instead of a Spotify family subscription and canceling my existing sub.

EDIT - Good to see the freedom of speech is afforded to the paying public **bleep**ing **bleep**

I just want a half-way point solution: As someone who has a "family" account, I want to be able to set a limit on my 8 year old being able to listen to explicit content.

You can't offer a "family" option without allowing parents any sort of control. It's really ridiculous.
