[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Very Useful as we use in an enviroment where we do not tolerate Blasphemy....

While working at Texas Tech University, I'd play modern playlists before our department's events... and without fail, an explicit song would come on in front of either the students or well-respected staff/guests. -- PLEASE add a button that helps us enjoy Spotify's awesome playlists while avoiding explicit music.

Seriously, Spotify. This has been tabled since 2012. You display CLEARLY in the playlist that a song is excplicit. Is it really that hard to auto skip?... But sure, you "still think this is a good idea" while I continue to keep considering dropping your service and moving to Amazon Music Unlimited as they flesh the service out more. I'm sure they'll have sense enough to add a simple, highly requested feature.

The censorship argument they provide is complete BS. If they were blocking
songs that would be censoring. If a user chooses to automatically skip a
song that's a user's choice and filtering!

I've always looked to Spotify for great examples of solid Product Management (professionally), but this surprises me. Instead of saying you either can't, or can only in small %s, attribute cancellations to lack of this feature, consider asking "How many more paid subscriptions could we get if we implemented this feature." My leadership would be very upset if I actively withheld such an obviously needed, and (I assume) relatively simple, feature requested by a significant portion of my user base. Speaking directly to the PM in charge of this, I would seriously reconsider your prioritization and user feedback intake techniques. Specifically, add "No Explicit Filter" to a list of "Why'd You Leave?" questions.

This seems to be possible on Apple Music, I don't want to give up on Spotify, but I don't need a streaming service for me and a different on for the family

please do provide this service.

Spotify should make it clear to customers BEFORE they sign up to a family package that there is no way to filter explicit material. It never occurred to me, and I am sure to many others that this was the case and leaves the customer in a bit of bewilderment that a company can treat families this way and apparently get away with it. If they were to make it obvious that the filter did not exist there would be a measurable decrease in uptake to the service. If they know this, and yet do not make it obvious  that there is no filter, it is fraud.

Just about to sign up for the family plan until I realized there is no explicit content filter... too bad. Guess i'll stick with Pandora which does have this filter.
