[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Which email did you use please? I've emailed a couple of people and had no response.
Thanks!

I know this probably will not make any difference, but I just canceled my Premium account because of this missing feature. My next step is uninstalling the app everywhere and looking into other music options. Will probably come back (and subscribe to family) if this is ever added.

Hi Nats11

It's Daniel Ek.  daniel@spotify.com

I got an out of office but then received a reply from the help desk.

I wasn't expecting a personal reply but as Blackbear sang in a Spotify Chill Out playlist I was listening to with my family over dinner a few days ago

"I don't **bleep**ing  care"

Have a good New Year, Spotify is history to me now.

Good Bye

I don't believe that....

I typed "I don't f.u.c.k.i.n.g care" without the dots and those P r.ic.k.s censored it

Dissapointed this basic feature to remove songs with expicit lyrics is not available for Spotify, as it is standard for Pandora.  The 3 month promo is nice, but Spotify service is not worth paying if the family can only listen if parents are actively monitoring, too busy to do this and not worth the money if only listening for a limited set of hours.  Will likely revert to a paying Pandora customer if this feature is not enabled in Spotify after promo.

I unsubscribed. I'm not going to pay for something from a company that seemingly doesn't care what its users need. Bye.

OK, I stayed subscribed to this chat for a while after unsubscribing from Spotify and moving the whole family over to Google Music because I find the post entertaining... And I like the feeling that I am not alone on the explicit button request.   We have been on GM for a month now, everyone has adjusted nicely and there is no turning back now.  My final step is to unsubscribe to this thread and forget Spotify ever existed. I highly recommend most of you do the same,  it's been great having the explicit filter for the last month.

Will move to google music right after my current subscription is finished. Have to run to phone every time word "F...." appears suddenly from speakers. Really diappointing, Spotify. Not family - friendly. Not at all.

Subscribe to spotify was a mistake.

Yes, I would definitely like something that would allow me to block explicit content. I would have to have that option before I would upgrade to the Family Plan.
