[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

My daughter and I love listening to lots of different music together and are happy to plough through play lists but PLEASE, she's 6 and doesn't need to hear explicit lyrics. Even Little Mix's latest song has a radio edit to remove the word "s.e.x"! I'm sure Spotify that you could get with the times and offer this function.

Come on Spotify. I'm a Software Engineer.  I know this must be trivial to implement technically, so what's the hold up?  Let's get it done already.

This is the ONLY reason I am paying for Apple Music. Would love to subscribe to your service but until this feature is enabled, it's not going to happen. This would have to be costing you so much money, most parents would want this.

Must have feature.  Surprised it isn't there already.  You already tag the songs with an Explicit tag - this has got to be so easy to do I can't understand what the hold-up is?

We need a filter, I use this in a business setting and this is causing a problem. Also I do not want grandchildren to hear explicit songs in my house or car. .  If people want to hear it all, all the time  they can, some of us do not,  and this should be a very easy fix.  if Not I will be saying bye bye to Spotify .

Get over it and Uninstall Spotify. We moved to Google Play. Better quality, selection and price.

It's 5 years this month since this was first requested.

Of the 2351 'live' ideas listed, it's 9 days from being the oldest

It's the mosted voted for.

This seems such a straightforward thing to achieve. If you've no intention of implementing this, please could you say? Carring on for so long, for something so requested, undermines the concept that you're listening to ideas from the community.

It's so very embarrasing to have these explicit songs pop into Spotify feeds.  And they are never the same type genre requested to listen to.  I believe they must be coming from malware feeds embedded into Spotify.

Will definitely be a deal breaker for me if these don't disappear soon.
