[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This needs to be done asap it is getting to the point we're we can't listen to Spotify with the kids around (except pre vetted playlists). Again I imagine it is a relative simple thing to do. Ideally moving forward if parental controls could be put in place as my young daughter would love her own tween account. Otherwise great service.

'....Spotify Staff here again. We wanted to let you all know we still think this is a good idea. We don't have any specific updates for you on this..'

So basically Spotify aren't working on this in any manner whatsoever, despite this being requested by numerous people over many years.

This is totally unacceptable, it is also stopping me changing my subscription to family as I don't want my children listen to the profanity that seems to be included in far too many tracks of late.

No wonder so many of our young adults now seem incapable of stringing together a sentence without swearing....

No brainer really. If you are going to offer a family plan then we have to be able to switch off access to songs listed as explicit. Pleeeeeease do it do it do it!!

Maybe everyone could start tweeting @SpotifyCares and make this more of a public issue, rather than keep this in a private forum that they obviously don't care about?

That is a great idea! We've got to take it public because they are completely stone walling this for  some reason I  can't imagine!

Also, @eldsjal is Daniel Ek, the CEO and founder of Spotify.  So tweet away to both @eldsjal and @SpotifyCares and we might get something done!

Appears they have resources -.
According to a host of reports, Spotify recently closed its largest ever
round of financing, securing *$1 billion* in fresh capital from a
consortium of investors including Goldman Sachs, hedge fund Dragoneer
Investment Group, and private equity giant TPG.Apr 5, 2016

Hey everyone interested in this feature, if you want to see change happen in this area, try contacting Spotify directly using this link:

I filled it out the other day and received a personal reply within 24 hours. With enough of these flooding their inbox, we will be much more likely to get the results we want.

The reply I got was put it on the ideas page

Requests to create an option to control explicit content on Spotify, as far as I went back to 2012, which was 5 years ago! Also, Spotify offers a family plan, which is what I have. Today my son showed me a "funny song" and I almost fainted... It is absolutely appalling that Spotify doesn't do anything about this urgent matter. There are parental control options everywhere, as there should be. Spotify, you should be ashamed of yourselves. If nothing happens, I am quitting this service. Apple Music is just as good, and they have this option. I'm not paying a dime more to this company if I have to worry about my children.
