[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Would love to have this available.  It seems spotify has moved toward offerring only edited content, which is really unfortunate for those of us that want the version as the artist intended.  Please add back the explicit versions and integrate a filter/button to give users a choice.

I'd like to see the option setup so you could filter it either way. I much prefer to hear uncensored content and it's not always clear which version is censored or not (it may be because I use the experimental linux app, but I have come across songs that were marked explicit, but were censored and vice-versa), and it doesn't seem to be listed at all on the mobile app. Thanks.

Just to echo the sentiment about the ability to filter "Explicit" songs depending on where I am listening.  I like to listen at work, and so can't listen to some playlists easily.

Yes! Please do this!  This is especially needed when listening to artist radio channels.

+1 on this. Rdio doesn't have it either so you can win over some of their customers.

Please add this feature.  I don't like hearing the explicit words and especially don't want to have to worry about friends and family hearing.

It has been 8 months since this request was made.  What is the status?

I completely agree. Pandora already has this feature. I do enjoy spotify as a paying customer, but in when I hate it when swearing sneaks in unexpected. This feature would allow me to completely drop pandora.

I agree that this feature is needed.

I would really like to see this feature. I would like to make an additional feature suggestion.

When I am listening to music on my mobile it is very annoying to see 2 versions of an album and not be able to tell which is edited and which is explicit.  Spotify should have a switch for explicit music. The switch would obviously cycle between explicit and edited music. When the switch is set to safe it just plays edited/safe songs and hides explicit music. When it is set to explicit any edited versions of albums or songs are hidden if there is an explicit version available. With this switch people wouldn't need to make separate playlists for home and work. Spotify would automatically select the edited version of the songs when played in safe mode.

This is the one area Spotify is lacking, I am really surprised this feature hasn't been implemented yet.
