[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This request has been logged 18/02/2012 already and has received over 7000 votes - still no action from Spotify on this?  Five years on???  The users who keep raising the issues just gets referred back to this thread with no further feedback or result.  Can anybody answer me why Spotify can't either provide clean versions or at the very least incorporate a filter to exclude explicit content?

Please add the explicit content filter asap. A family plan by definition will often include children and Spotify will quickly become redundant for many if this filter is not implemented.

WHEN...????

Taking out a subscription with Spotify does not make you a customer of Spotify or afford you any of the rights a customer would normally expect. The true customers are the several record companies that use the service to distribute their product, on their terms. Obviously, as Spotify see it, a subscriber may be regarded as a sucker - so don't expect an even break from them here.

Need this function at work! It would be great if when available, the clean versions could replace songs labeled explicit.

You need to understand, this is not a technical issue but rather a decision that Spotify has made to not offer this feature. Many people think it is a technical issue.  This is to inform you that you can uninstall Spotify and move to Google Play. or iTunes.  Both services offer more music, free, less commercials and has option to remove explicit music. I’ll check back with Spotify in a few years to see if any improvements have been made. But why sweat the small stuff. Just go to Google Play or iTunes or find a favorite station on iHeart. The choices are endless.

Get on it. How long do we need to wait, Spottify. Telling us we're heard and not acting on it is lame. This is not customer centric. Listen to what your customers are asking!

Give us the ability to filter! All your competitoters do.

Premium opens up Spotify to the family - and our family love it!

However, considering the monthly revenue your company is taking, this seems a very slow response when our children are being exposed to songs that are not suitable for their ears; we need more control as parents and individuals than you are giving us.

This would be a very useful feature. It looks like this idea was mooted a long time ago, but there's been no progress so far. What are you saying Spotify? Are you going to do this and when?

Dear Spotify.

I have contributed to this thread for several years, you have done nothing regarding this matter despite thousands of requests. As I have stated, the only difficulty in implementing this feature is identifying which songs have explicit lyrics, however you already have the songs tagged! Therefore, as an experienced software developer myself, with the explicit songs already tagged it only requires some very simple code in order to filter out any tagged songs, so perhaps it's about time you finally explain the real reason for not implementing this feature? I suspect it will be something due to loss of revenue or something but quite simply, families will move away to alternative products if you don't get on with this simple job. I am sick of my young daughters having to unexpectedly listen to explicit lyrics, do you think this is acceptable? As a test I will end on a rather impolite note but it's my way of seeing if you are hypocritical bunch by blocking explicit words on this forum. So I will simply end with, stop the stupid excuses and pathetic updates to this issue and get on with the **bleep**ing job. Many thanks.
