[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Spotify simply doesn't care and it's truly a shame. If the 272 pages filled with requests to add this feature hasn't made them implement it, I don't know what will.

Shame on you, Spotify!

I just registered with apple music today, and they dont have a feature like
this either. I guess you can completely turn it off in the settings? But I
would really like them to add the radio versions of the songs!!

Yes!!! Please do this! I have listened to Spotify Pop album for an hour and more than half the songs had profanity. Please offer clean version

I understand and appreciate Spotify not censoring music. But having a way to filter explicit songs would be a wonderful addition. Words that qualify a song as explicit are ones I dont use and don't want to hear, most of the time. Please add this soon.

Yes! Great idea! Do it! It's so limited to have explicit music all the time!

AeroEngiNerd

I can choose the music I want to listen to, but I would prefer not to hear advertisements for adult services and products, especially while listening to radio stations that do not include this explicit material!

Bummer... was excited to try out Spotify. This seems like such an easy feature to implement

doingnz

Very simple. Either add Explicit filter or I will find another service,

This has been going on now for too long. Why isn't this implemented already??????

So I'm still confused on the status of this update. It has been hanging in the air for the past 5 years and I would really appreciate this to become a feature. I'm not one to be sensitive to this sort of thing, but my mother is and I want her to have the option to disable the explicit material. Not only for herself but for my younger sister.
