[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This doesn't cut it. Way too complicated. I want a simple button in the Admin/Settings section that says... "filter explicit content?"

SPOTIFY don't care or give a darn, but are happy to pretend they are not EVIL.

If they really cared this would have been solved by now.

Disgraceful that you are happy to peddle Spotify as a family product when it is FAR from that. Your customers have been asking for this change for YEARS yet you have ignored our request. Get it sorted Spotify - it really can't be that difficult if other platforms have done it.

I can't speak for everyone else, but all I want is a toggle so that I can
"choose" to listen to music the way I want without any unexpected or
possibly unfortunate surprises.

I don't want a bleep or blank sound in place of explicit words, that would
be stupid and just plain wrong, it is a terrible approach.

What I want is simply a button or a toggle that I can click on, so that
when I am in an environment where a song with explicit lyrics coming on at
the wrong moment would be bad, I don't have to worry, I click the button
"No Explicit Songs" and then no matter if I am listening to a discovery
list, or a mood list, or even when an ad comes on, I don't have to be
concerned that if someone comes through the door or I answer the phone that
they will hear something they object to. Then on my own time or in my own
place, I can toggle the "No Explicit Songs" off and listen to everything I
want.

This is gross how long it has been and the functionality still doesn't exist. I tell everyone I know about this issue and encourage them to use other services until it is solved. All we are asking for is the RIGHT to determine what our families are exposed to. It is selfish and arrogant what you are doing.

I vote that we all start spamming the Spotify support, all at the same time, during May 1st. It will probably get them to finally take us seriously.

Spotify is now spamming everyone subscribed to this thread in an attempt to shut you up. Daniel Ek needs to grow some nuts and come out and say this is or is not happening, rather than cowering in his ivory tower. I reiterate Daniel - this is a choice, not censorship. That's why artists create radio versions of songs so they get airplay - only release one song with explicit language, then don't get airplayed. The same should be true here. Just radio versions for us that want to listen to them with family.

Daniel Ekk prefers to ignore those calling for the facility. Karma is a funny thing Daniel.

that was my thought also, that spotify is behind all the emails we are getting, they figure we will turn off and forget about the explicit feed
