[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

We should have it already. This is the biggest streaming service and they haven’t added it. Pandora and Apple Music have it and Apple Music has been around a lot less than Spotify. If Apple can do it so can you. I told you goodbye on twitter and I am leaving so have fun with all the money you push away when you don’t filter music

It is hard to see that so many people have asked for clean music and spotify continues to drag this out. I am actively looking for a family friendly alternative. Sorry spotify, we asked and you have ignored us.

Try writing a bad word here in this forum. Yeah... it's pretty funny how Spotify has the explicit words you might type on their site censored, isn't it? Almost as if they care about what some people might be exposed to! Except that they don't do the same with their music. I mean... they go as far as to label songs as "Explicit" but don't give people any way to do anything about it. You should have heard the song that came on the "Good Vibes" suggested channel at my house the other day. The description said "Fun, Summertime Music to make you feel good" not "Music full of *bleep* and *bleep*. Why again is nothing being done about the thousands of comments on this issue over more than 5 years of this forum? I'm confused. I thought your goal was to improve your program for people... and I am pretty sure you replies have already acknowledged that it is a good idea. Sooooooo... who is effed up in the head here? What is the effing dilemma? I assume you are intelligent people... but you seem to lack it on this issue. Or at least you aren't telling us the real reason you won't touch this issue. Guessing it has something to do with money... aka... greed! Which is why I won't be giving Spotify one single cent of money until they fix this. How's that sound? Actually... I find myself listening more to other music sources. Shame...

Well said...complete with expletives deleted! You are right of course...Spotify has very clear rules about not allowing obscenity, pornography, exploitation...but doesn't give us the ability to protect our kids from hearing obscenity. It's a double standard. I don't listen to Spotify with my kids...we use other channels. We are reviewing it in my Law course as a theoretical case for legal action...from some theory comes practical applications sometimes. Maybe a smarter lawyer than this wannabe can find a legal approach...

I am not a smarter lawyer but it seems incredible to me that a leading institution in the music field can continue unabated and increasingly to expose our children to extreme filth and perverse mental imagery as Spotify do under a family plan. To **bleep** with the fine print. Spotify are exposing themselves as to what they really are and stand for.

Is H-e- ll a word that spotify fear? We must not mention it
