[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This is ridiculous...the Ts and Cs stipulate: "

Please respect Spotify, the owners of the Content, and other users of the Spotify Service. Don't engage in any activity, post any User Content, or register and/or use a username, which is or includes material that:

  • is offensive, abusive, defamatory, pornographic, threatening, or obscene;"

But SPOTIFY HAS ZERO RESPECT for the users of the service who wish to protect their children from hearing music that contains offensive, abusive, defamatory, pornographic, threatening, or obscene language.

Double standard...sick of waiting and sick of hearing weak, "hide behind the Terms" answers. You never got my money, and you never will until you fix this problem.  Bye Spotify!

Why can we not filter out explicit content?  Is anyone working on this?  I may have to change music service if not.  I got this to be able to use at my desk at work, but I can't have certain lyrics blasting out of my machine!  HELP SPOTIFY!

Please implement this feature. Your competition already has which is likely costing you additional subscribers, especially in the 'family' demographic. Myself, for example. I would love to pay for the family subscription, however, the explicit lyrics filter MUST be an option first as my kids will be listening. Thanks.

321 pages of comments over 8000 votes and nothing changed. Not great Spotify!

Please make clean versions or a feature where you can only listen to clean music. My daughter enjoys listening to the music on the playlists created by Spotify  but there is no feature to block out the explicit content.

Spotify is great, but I will continue to use Pandora because they have the ability to automatically skip explicit songs.

This feature was requested 5 years ago, has almost 10,000 votes and it's still not implemented....**bleep** SPOTIFY?!

I really want to stay with my Spotify family plan, but lack of this explicit filter is going to force me to go to iTunes - I do not want to disrespect artists' integrity or wishes... I simply want to protect my young daughters from hearing unnecessary profanity when then do not need to!

Seriously... there has to be a way to block explicit language.... I can care less... but that means I can't play music when my kidds are around... I am tired of having to jump and turn off spotify. I use Spotify for creating weekly playlists for my cycling class, so thinking this is not a good option for me. I can't seem to play anything lately without hearing the F*** Sh*** or N*** word all the time.
