[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I would like to still hear those songs but the radio version.  Is that possible?

Hi Natalie, that's exactly my point. Here's hoping!

nutbuster

ok sure but also please just add a simple  "E" next to songs/albums that have explicit lyrics so we can tell them apart from songs with no explicit lyrics. why is this not a thing yet i don't understand.

Bollie42

Please Please Please add this option, it really should have been in there from the start, not all of us enjoy listening swearing and explicit lyerics

Please add this feature. A simple setting toggle for explicit to be on or off would do the trick. Let's improve the CX for all demographics with this option. Thank you!

Cancled my sub, will be moving to apple music now, tada!

My message for the reason i left on the i'm leaving form is:

Unbelievable that you won’t add a Filter for Explicit button even though you offer a family plan. i have had my three year old put on a song swearing from the start, I do not want my child forced to listen to this.

This request has been asked for 5 year!!

You will be losing customers for this very reason!

5 years! Is this technically difficult to deliver? Or a classic case of a product team focussing on headline grabbing features rather than listening to customer's needs. Makes for a poor user experience of the core product at the moment. And it's not limited to families. It causes all sorts of problems with listening to playlists at work!

I can't believe that Spotify will not even address or acknowledge that there is a demand for this option to be implemented.

"We're Spotify, NO OPTIONS - You'll Listen To Music The Way We Want You To."

Hovendenr

Please add this feature! I love Spotify but know I can't listen when I have family gatherings or if there are kids around.

How hard can this be? Why does Spotify keep dragging their feet on this issue, which obviously has TONS of support?

We want a simple way to filter out explicit songs. Please!!!
