[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I don't personally have a problem with language but I live with my family and sometimes I want to listen without headphones. It would really be great if I wouldn't have to worry about language or inappropriate content getting played accidentally.

This is essential for some of us on Spotify Family that have young teens that we would like to block from hearing explicit songs.

PLEASE add a function to skip songs with explicit language. My kids love listening to music, but so many play list contain songs with serious swearing.  We were listening to 'Happy Pop' playlist this morning and my daughter got up to skip songs. It's not worth subscribing if we can't listen to music in the licing room or in the car with the kids.

I am surprised this feature is not there!

Ok, Spotify what is your timeline to add this? I don't want to like my kids listen bad lyrics, this can be a deal breaker for me

Come on. How long do we have to wait for this feature? I would never pay for premium unless there was an option to remove all songs with explicit lyrics.

Family loves Spotify, but I would like some parental controls to keep my kids from accessing certain materials.

I'm a pro dancer and tons of dancers I know use this app. We love this app, but NEED this feature to use any station or generated playlist, which is one of the most important features. I would love to use this with clients and not worry about the content being too explicit. Radio versions of songs should be a focus for your business. Please sort this out sooner than later, lots of people stated outright they are dropping your service due to this issue and using Pandora, play, or apple.... Help us help you!

We have a ten year old and a seven year old.  We just moved to Spotify due to the closure of Pandora in Australia.  We're now paying for a service so that my kids can learn a wonderful array of new phrases like "suck my d*ck" and "f*ck you b*tch".  Thanks Spotiy ... it has been a brief and disappointing journey and unless this can be fixed, we will be cancelling our account before it rolls over next month.

How has this not been implemented in 5 years? What position is this in on your back log?

this happens to us as well. Even worse, my son loves Christian rap. And after a song he picks plays, the next song will be rap that is TOTALLY not Christian with F*** and B**** and apparently it is grouped with the Christian rap because it is rap music. Sorry Spotify, all rap music is not the same genre. I can't even allow my son to use spotify without sitting there with him and many times it is too late by the time the music plays. I was thinking the upcoming songs were similar content but that is not the case. Definitatly need a parental control. But in addition to that, as an adult if I am listening to one style of music, I don't want to get cussed out by a totally different type of music starting to play. Not cool. I want to be able to create him a play list and allow him to ONLY be able to hear the list. I don't want to turn it on and he can choose any crazy music that is out there. As a parent, I want to control what can be selected and limit the options.
