[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Pandora can do it, Apple Music can do it, come on Spotify, my family account's lifespan will shorten greatly if this isn't setup soon.

This really needs to happen ASAP

We have family gatherings and would like to listen to spotify however with a range of ages its not really suitable, a feature to filter explicit content would be really useful for a number reasons

It has been 4 years since this has been first suggested and not option for it?! Make this happen ASAP. I might have to go back to Pandora...

This would be great – also maybe, if a Family account member is under 16, then "clean" versions/edits of the songs/albums will show??

Yes, I'd really like this feature!  I don't mind explicit content, but not everyone does, and it limits my ability to "just hit play" on a radio station for fear of what might come out.  A simple button to screen out that content would be so easy, since you've already flagged which content has explicit lyrics, and which doesn't.  Just make it happen!

I'm checking out Google Play Music, I love it so far. It's kind of like a cross between Pandora and Spotify. This morning, I said that I wanted to listen to Queen, so far for a few hours I am listening to Queen, and not with other bands thrown in as well. Plus, you check the settings and you have there a toggle switch next to BLOCK EXPLICIT SONGS IN RADIO, seems easy enough. When I chatted with a Spotify rep, they told me that it was impossible right now. I guess not for everybody. Although to be fair, Spotify doesn't have a "radio" mode.

I will not use Spotify anymore until there is a way to block explicit content. Recently (and more than one time), I have put Spotify on a children's lullaby playlist. In the middle of the playlist, Spotify would automatically play an explicit song. I do not want my young children to listen to that type of music. I will switch back to pandora until this is resolved, and will encourage others to do the same.

Please make this happen, Spotify.

braydensmith

Make this happen. Come on, Spotify. Listen to your customers.
