[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Please allow us to filter out songs with explicit lyrics.  I enjoy using the radio feature to discover new songs, but I find it *very* annoying to have songs consistently pop up that have explicit lyrics.  Love everything else about Spotify.  Please add this feature ASAP.

How about instead of marking it, "Under Consideration," let's mark it, "Under Construction." 🙂

Hello there!

@LongSlide: I have merged your idea to this one since they were really similar. It is better if we gather all the related ideas then it is easier to get them popular and more chances to get them built!

Now your idea has 432 kudos! 😉

I have added the amount of kudos your one had.

Folks keep adding kudos and comments!

As I said last time, this is under consideration (thanks to your votes!), check this thread for next updates.

Thanks for your feedback 🙂

I don't need it for kids I personally don't like listening to explicit songs, and I want to play spotify at work! but I can't because I find myself rushing back to me desk to switch the songs every other song!

Please add this feature.  I do not like having to rush to skip an explicit song when the kids are around.  I also don't want to hear those types of songs.

Thanks to the non-existant Explicit button my 5 year old likes "Sak Noel - What the F&ck".  I tried looking for a "parental" setting, then found this thread.  Please fix this ASAP!.  Thank you.

Add me as well! Have to listen to Pandora at work because of this missing feature. I would LOVE to be able to use Spotify at work!! Please, please, please add this functionality!

great idea.  I can't tell you how many times I have been supprised to find that the new song I just heard on the radio is really an edit of a vulgar swear fest.

Have Spotify looked at this - I also am happy to receive the ads as part of a free service - but don't want to have explicit shouting from Sailor Jerry or similar when my kids are in the room. Is it a tactic to make me pay? It's much more likely to make me leave.

Please have a filter for explicit content.
