[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Yes, need filter.

I seriously doubt they're going to add it. This thread is over 5 years old with 339 pages of comments with no results. I'm unfollowing and switching to a new music provider.

Problem is: to which provider do I change to get the explicit content
filter? I live in Portugal and I only have Apple Music and Spotify (no
Pandora).
So far Pandora is the only site that I know off that filters out explicit songs.

It's been five years since the suggestion and the best you can do is provide an update that says it's a good idea?  That's pathetic.  Clearly there is a financial implication to doing it and you just don't want to admit it.  Too bad, it was a great service otherwise.

It seems this "good idea" has been there since 2012 at least, with today's technology (making it easy to implement) and Spotify's (I'm sure) willingness to supply what the customers want/ask for I'm very surprised that this function is not there already.

When Spotify, when?

I think the feature should allow for the filtering of songs without explicit lyrics during serach functions as well.

You are an awesome app, if I can get it on  Pandora why not you?

I made a little tool to filter explicit content and to block songs and artists. Check it out at https://www.trackskipper.com and let me know what you think!

An integrated feature would of course be much better but until that happens, this tool does what Spotify should do.
