[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Such a joke to have a community page dedicated to suggestions when a 5+ year old suggestion with so much support is completely ignored. Terrible that I can't use the service I am paying for in many areas because of explicit content.

really want this feature! 🙂

Hurry up. How are other music apps are able to do it and you guys aren't?

Come on spotify, an intern could implement such simple functionality in half a day!

I bet you are not even reading this 😞

It is very important that a Preference choice be provided that allows users to decide if they want to hear Explicit songs or not.  I am not able to listen to most of your playlists because they have not just one, but many many explicit songs.  I do not want me or my family members to hear explicit songs.  As a result, I use Spotify far less frequently that I could be using it because I cannot keep an eye on the playlist at all times......

This was first raised in 2012 and in 2017, there is is still no solution proposed.  With today's software capabilities, it is disappointing that this has not been acted upon.

When can users expect to have the choice to avoid explicit songs added to the Preferences ?

I'm fed up with the F-word appearing in my living room. It's not conducive to family listening. It can't be that difficult for goodness sake.

@Eldsjal @__spo__ Can we get information on when explicit filter option will be added? my kids are f**king sick of this s**t!!!!

Congratulations, Spotify. By not listening to the THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ASKING FOR SOMETHING SIMPLE FOR OVER A YEAR, I officially quit. You will no longer get my money, and I strongly urge others to do so as well. Good luck staying in business by driving away both customers and musicians.

Seriously, this is a big problem. I am fed up with having to monitor my kids access to songs on your platform for excplicit content. I have not seriously looked a Apples service until now... will be signing up for my free trial now and if this is not fixed in the next 30 days you will have another customer less.

Companies who does not listen to their customers do not deserve them, very dissapointed to see these comments in here since 2012 with no action taken. If you really want to do it I am sure you can do it from scratch in 14 days...

This should be standard with my family subscription. I have kids that listen to music on their accounts and it is absolutely unacceptable that spotify haven't addressed this issue already. Just remember who your audience is and take care of your paying customers requests. Its not like we are asking for too much. Other providers seem to listen. FIX IT OR WE DUMP SPOTIFY and move on, but not after smearing it all over social media.

Very Very Disappointed "PREMIUM SUBSCRIBER"
