[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I work at at church and love to listen to a varity of music, but it must all be censored from F-bombs and such. Please  make this option happen!!!

Could there be a setting in your account to disable explicit music?

I would play Spotify radio in my classroom if we could leave out explicit songs.  For now, I have to use Pandora.  And Spotify is MUCH better than Pandora with this one exception!

With my 5 year old and 7 year old using the iPad spotify is a great intro to music for them, but also a great intro to new swear words branded proudly around the playground so get banned from using it on their own! Would be great to implement this - these are the spotify users of the future so probably a great commercial move as well.

Please make this happen! 🙂

Pandora allows an explicit filter so I still am on the fence about who to switch to completely.

Agree with other posters.  An explicit filter would be extremely useful for parties and children.  Frankly, I am surprised this isn't already available.

This would really help. Even Pandora has this option!

This should be a PRIORITY!!!  I also don't want explicit ads (rap songs with vulgar language in ads, or Trojan commercials)!!!  I use Spotify at work, in my retail shop and I constantly have to LUNGE at the tuner to turn it off.

How about we get rid of the Trojan ad commericals? Even playing them on stations with Disney's Children music? I mean, that is just ridiculous!

Wildfleur

PLEASE!  I have young children who do not need to hear the Trojan ads.  I understand the need to make money from ads, but Pandora has yet to play something that is so offensive.  Please remove these ads.  I don't mind hearing ads, but explicit ones?  Legitimate businesses do not need to run ads that are so offensive.  Please save it for websites geared towards adults... not adults and children.

Thank you.
