[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Status: implemented

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.
 
We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such. 

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

Google Play has this..... and pretty much every other music app on the market.....  really surprised this hasn't been implemented after 5 years.......  lets get the show on the road spotify or I'll seriously start soliciting a boycott of your services....

I love Spotify but I love my family more.  I am leaving if this is not fixed by Dec 31, 2017.  Best to you and I hope you can somehow prioritize this feature.

Well, after enjoying the ab7ility to filter out explicit content on Spotify since 9/15/2017 on my android devices, I used the clear cache and data functionality in the Spotify settings and now the option is gone! It is even more aggravating now to have experienced it and had it taken away now that I know they have the feature and they are only providing it to some users. Please, please Spotify, reenable the option on my account and others. If not, I will be cancelling my premium family subscription on the next billing cycle. You CAN do it, so PLEASE do! Thx.

Wow!! It's amazing that there STILL isn't a filter option to remove explicit content after complaints going all the way back to 2012!! 😞

So I keep seeing good people posting about this yet there is NO RESPONSE From spotify.  For some reason - they feel entitled to SHOVE THIS DOWN OUR THROAT!   I feel that there is enough people here to join forces and Make something happen.  If you are interested in banding together let's post here.  If there are enough of you, I'll pull together a website to expose this. Maybe a petition....but either way - we need to band together to make this happen

 

Hey Spotify - You could stop all of this if you would just swallow your political bias and let people have the freedom to manage the EXPLICIT **bleep** that comes through their Speakers!
