[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

It is pretty obvious to me that Spotify really does not care about this and likely never read any of what the community is commenting. Therefore we need to join forces and make them listen. I naively thought I was one of very few that would like to block explicit songs but from I posted this to community it seems lots of people have been requesting this for years.

Ok there is 349 pages going back to 2012, and  also have you noticed the the "good idea,Vote for it" status is only at 9563, and there is 113 pages, but the peculiar thing is the dates people liked the idea  only go back to april 18, 2017, there should be way more likes, i for one liked this explicit filter along time ago before 2017, they are manipulating the numbers to make it look like filter is not needed, liars liars pants on fire****

Spotify taught my daughter the B word

johncats
Spotify taught my daughter the f word. 7 years old in the childrens section, using the lyrics feature then available to teach her how to read. Spotify, deeply unresponsive, hide behind a brick wall of lack of responsibility. Is it shame that prevents them from admitting any wrongdoing and prevents them from acting? Needless to say I am very pi ssed off = have been, and will remain so for some time. I would love to meet whoever is responsible to give them a piece of my mind.

is this some sort of Swedish cultural relativism to not care if kids hear explicit lyrics?

How hard can it be... really. Obviously there is a need for this feature... prioritize it, put it on the roadmap and make it happen.

This thread is a waste of time. We need to be using twitter and negative reviews on mojor review sites to get things noticed.

I have tried twitter but they just give excuses that the developers are
aware of it and it’s with the right people

Maybe we should all tweet to @spotifycares
