[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Had Spotify premium for several years now for my wife and myself. The kids are now at the age where they really want access to music themselves but with no parental control feature we will have to swap over to Apple Music.

I prefer Spotify but the kids have to come first. Don’t you realise this Spotify?

Amazed this issue has been ongoing for so many years!

Unfortunatly I doubt spotify even read this forum, or even care. Their
responses on Twitter or Facebook just fob you off telling you your comment
has been forwarded to right department.

The trueth is: spotify does not want to introduce "explicit" filter, they want to chage _you_ instead. They follow evil liberal agenda. They want to break you tradition and change your values. This way you will be easier to manage. All of you obviously continue to pay them money (including myself, or should I say my family including 10yo and 11yo) and ultimatly we would start "tolerate" explicit content sooner then we thought we would. Thank you spotify, you are the best. Give me more of that...

This is not a liberal agenda. Liberals are not evil, conservatives are not
evil. And both liberals and conservatives don’t want their kids to start
swearing without knowing what they are saying.
Spotify are just evil, full stop. Money grabbers, convinced they are above
anyone else, disregarding their many customers, whatever their political
views!

Who is in charge? I would like to meet them and ask for an explanation and an apology - why did he/she lure my children into a childrens' music section on a family account and expose them to filth? The buck stops somewhere.

I just notified the moderator that the inappropriate content of this forum topic is Spotify’s lack of action hahaha

This was posted nearly a year ago. Any updates?

We need to make our comments to spotify via twitter. That's the only way we can get them to change it.  If we could get all these comments in a twiiter feed, others would join in, we'd have a audience, and spotify would be forced to listen.  There are some people commenting via twitter, maybe a boost would help.

Still waiting for this feature to be added. Pandora has it.  Everything is possible! Please get this working!

Go to Spotify in the play store or apple store and give it a 1 star rating and state that the lack of explicit content filter is why. They may not give a **bleep** about us posting here, but when their rating starts to plummet in the stores, the execs in the company will take notice and it will be a big deal. Hit them where it hurts, go rate them 1 star!!!!

It's also amazing to me that they will have an explicit content filter on this stupid forum, but can't have it in their app.
