[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Hey all...ok - i think this is about the best I can think of for now.  Open for suggestions.  Hit the email on that site and let's figure out a way to get this company to respond.

Basically - posting on this forum doesn't seem to be working.

Definitely everyone should go to your respective app store and do a 1 star review stating that the lack of the explicit button filter is why it's 1 star.

Tweeting at @spotifycares  and @spotify  are other options

Need to get this out to all the other forum posts on this topic.

It's my last ditch effort to get them off their backsides to make this happen.  hopefully all of us banding together will get their attention!

I suggest we all take to social media to let them know, and also with the bad publicity they may do something about it 🙂 we can hope anyway.

I pay for Spotify so I try to use it as much as possible but it's a little hard to have it running in my store when I'm worried something offensive might be heard and a customer is present

Wouldn't usually request this, but as most top spots nowadays in pop charts are filled with either sexually degrading or drug promoting content, I think it'd be great to be able to turn off explicit. Can't even believe that I'd want such a feature.. I have no issues at all with swearing.. but this stuff is just not cool to listen to with my kids. Sorry...

Hello everyone, Spotify Staff here again. We wanted to let you all know we still think this is a good idea...."

We still think it's a good idea to ignore this thread of frustrated people who don't pay us enough to care about them.

Just wanted to say that I have cancelled my family plan and bought one over at Google Play Music which gives us You Tube Red as well. I love Spotify but I hate their ridiculous politics on this issue. I am learning to love GPM pretty quickly especially since they are giving me more bang for the buck.
