[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Same here... Moved to google family account. Our BOSE system at home does
not support google music yet unfortunately, but I am happy to run spotify
free with adv. on it... Commercials, swear words, complement each other
nicely.

@aelxva you could get a $15 bluetooth adapter and plug it in to the Bose system via a 3.5mm headphone style input jack if the Bose system has one. Then you pair it with your phone and it will stream the Google Music app over bluetooth to the Bose system, and the Bose system won't know the difference or care. Should work great. There are tons of them out there. Amazon or any of the big box electronics stores carry them.

Get your act together, add the explicit filter, or not only will I quit your service and use another one, but we will start a social media campaign blitz for all to do the same.  Get the lead out, it has been at least 5 years since this issue was first raised.  Also, private individuals have created this plug in based on your API and you have sabotaged it.  Enough excuses, just get it done.

I am all in for an explicit prevention button or setting... but IS it ever going to happen?  Seems pretty simple to implement programatically since the songs are marked already as being explicit - just enable skipping over them if the no explicit button is checked - easy peasy and lots of pleased folks.

I wanted to add my voice to this! I love having spotify playing at home, however we have children that are now old enough that they copy words they hear. I find myself dashing across the room to skip songs and sometimes too late. 😞 I would love to have this feature for desktop, android app, and for the PS4 version of Spotify!

@LMB7 a quit campaign is the only way to make it happen. #explicitquitspotify. I am in! We need to pick a date and time to send the right signal.

I recently signed up for a Spotify premium account. I am shocked and disappointed in Spotify for not providing a way to block explicit content. I signed up for a family plan and many playlists contain explicit content. Where is the option to toggle explicit content on and off? It does not exist! Where are the parental controls to limit explicit content for young children?  It does not exist! Why would we want playlists for young children, like my nine-year-old, 11-year-old and  14-year-old to contain explicit content? I will be canceling my subscription shortly!

Currently looking for a background music player without explicit language in lyrics.

I have seen loads of feedback here, some of which is years old - looks like spotify is happy to make money at any cost?

Here's one customer searching for a "clean" alternative .

(It's usually not a good song/tune that inclused bad language, so don't feel I'll be missing anything).

thanks for not listening or reading this.

Despite numerous attempts to get information from the 'ironically' named @spotifycares twitter account, they just reply with standard, "We don't have any information on that right now, keep checking on the forum" - #SpotifyExlipicitFilter - 5 years and counting - time to leave, they clearly do not care about taking your money.
