[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

If you do this, and want a beta tester, let me know.  Not only am I a full time software QA, but I listen to an unhealthy amount of Spotify radio, and I'd be glad to give this filter option a test.

Frankly, I love the radio option and listen to it a lot, but I'm mystified of how I can create a radio based on "Learn Spanish with Maria Fernandez" and for the related tracks, this periodically includes a "porn sound effects" track.  How on earth does your system put that as a related song?  I hardly consider that another language!  Lol...

(Spanish radio also gives a link to a track for Whale Songs, which is equally puzzling.  If I learn Spanish, is the next language to learn Whale-speak?)

I believe the OP is over a year old, any progress on this feature? Seems like Spotify rolls up explicit lyrics more frequently than Pandora when using the 'radio' option.

PLEASE add this feature. So many playlists I can't use because of kids in the listening area.

Please PLEASE Please help those of us who are trying to teach students proper classroom language and have fun! I can't let them play music from you in class anymore.  In fact our school is thinking of blocking your site.  I really wish you all would consider that music is the most powerful influence on our youth and that they think if you play cuss words they are OK to say in class.

PLEASE ADD A BUTTON!

🙂 thanks

If this was added what would be to stop the students from just turning this option off?

Yes, please please please! I love sharing new music with my kids but they're just too young to hear F-- YOU constantly

It would also be great if you could hide the clean or edited versions of songs. I get upset when there is a blank space where there should be sound. There is no such thing as a bad word.

SolidMusic

This is sorely needed!

Even the most basic spotify stations are overrun with really foul language. "F* the Police" is the most common song on the Hip Hop station... I can't have that popping up at random around strangers.

I am a new premium user, however, without the ability to filter out explicit songs that you have already tagged, I will have no choice but to discontinue the service.

This needs to go from consideration to in process, or whatever the next step is in your development process, then done so we can move on to enjoying your great service.

Is it possible for the "explicit button" or pref to search for a non explicit version, many artists have an alternative cleaner version for Radio play, if it is not available then skip. This way we don't have to forgot our fav song if we are playing in the car or at granny's house...

May already be covered by another comment but 21 pages is a lot to read just to give feedback.
