[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Yes. As with the just (today) launched twitter music have an explicit lyric option in/out at account level

I think this is the number one major flaw in the Spotily experience. Each user should have a choice as to what version of music they will listen to and the execution of that choice should be organic. Please dedicate resources to resolve this issue. It is the one thing holding me back from subscribing.

Thank you, in advance, for hearing your customers.

It would be ideal to choose whether you want explicit or edited versions. It is very jarring to hear the clean version,it ruins the experience. I am contemplating switching services for this very reason as now I have to hop through multiple links to get the explicit version. It ruins my listening experience.

I want to listen to music that isn't riddled with explicit lyrics (that really do ruin a song). Add the proposed button or account setting.

I would love to be able to use Spotify laylists around my four year old, but I won't until there is an explicit song filter.

Absolutely MUST have this option for families - WITH OPTIONS PER DEVICE - not on an account-wide basis.  Sorry to say that my premium subscription may not last past the 30 day trial because of this and we may be FORCED TO GO BACK TO THE ITUNES MODEL.  To say it's "Under Consideration" as opposed to "Under Development" isn't very promising...

I completely understand this request, I would also like it to be implemented with an option for the other way round also. For example a switch that lets you play tracks as normal, play clean versions only, play explicit versions only.

Sometimes there are playlists with a clean version of a track and I'd rather it played the explicit, so if it could auto switch that would be great.

I find that many album covers are 'explicit' (at least to my visual tastes). This is a problem for me, especially with the Recommended Albums section highlighted in What's New

For this effort to I'd love an option to give a Thumbs up / Thumbs down for the albums showing up in Recommended Albums.

Appreciate the consideration!

I love the radio feature... but when I thumbs down a song with explicit lyrics.... the algorithm doesn't seem to understand that 4 explicit songs in a row probably is why I am thumbs downing. 😉 This would be an awesome feature.

Thanks for being awesome.
