[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Pandora has this option already. I promote Spotify over pandora but unfortunately I can’t listen to my Spotify account at work. I want the radio variety that Spotify offers but because of cursing in songs I can’t play it at my work. Please make this an option whether through- specific playlist, specific radio, and/or on the entire personal account (this feature would be good for children having their own account or access to their parents).

It is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that this issue has been brought to your attention for over half a decade and has over TEN THOUSAND votes and you still refuse to do anything about it.

it is flat out insulting to paying members to tell them to vote for the update to enable this option!

As a programmer myself, I'd wager that a working update could be coded in a matter of days if the top brass deemed it a worthy project.  It has been 6+ YEARS and you have done nothing...  The last update on this thread by an employee was over a year ago!  You obviously do not care about families, only about $$$$$$.

When my paid subscription is up, I'm done with your could-be-excellent-but-is-woefully-lacking service.  I seriously cannot fathom why you don't care.  Unbelievable.

How is this not a thing? We are going to cancel and go back to Apple Music.

Why do I have to listen to R rated lyrics with technology today?

Please have a button that excludes explicit lyrics from the playlists.

When friends and family sitting by the pool... it is just simply inappropriate.

Very important to achieve this.

Please let me know.

I have been a pandora user for years and will continue paying the premium price for this reason.  I just signed up for 3 months for 99cents to try spotify as an alternative since pandora wont allow muliple users to listen at a time. however the first 5 songs listed in spotify were so disturbing with the words.  If Spotify doesn't fix this by 3 months end i will cancel my membership and for iheart or the other many alternatives.

No really... this would be a GAME CHANGER.

If it could be an option on the website and I could block all explicit content I would feel even better about letting my kids listen to spotify when I'm not in the room.

Please please PLEASE make this happen. I want to use Spotify Family with my kids. The have iPods but are limited to what music they can explore.

Would also be very handy for family parties etc.

Get in done, guys!

Discover Weekly is great for finding new songs. I hate to thumbs-down a song just because it is explicit. I'm sure the system that analyzes my song preferences loses accuracy each time I do, but I don't want the song to keep showing up in the list. Make it a premium feature if you have to, just put the feature in the app... Please.

Love Spotify.  Please install parental controls.

This needs to happen it would be a super simple setting. Plus it would be super helpful for children and prude relatives alike.
