[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I just gave my son an iPhone and beats headphones, the first thing my wife notice was the explicit songs he was listing to. We would like to trust his judgment but he is a teenager and we know how that works. I am interested if you have an update soon or I will be canceling my family plan and going to Apple Music. I think Spotify and its customer service is great and I would prefer not to leave. Hope to see update soon.

I have given them this long, nearly five years of asking and being a premium subscriber.

I have now quit family premium and have signed up for Apple Music.

These guys are trying to do an IPO, so every subscriber leaving hurts. Leave now for maximum impact, then hopefully they will see the error of their ways, put on the explicit filter, and we can come back.

Please get this done

Just cancelled my Premium membership. I agree.

This is insane. So many people want this and are being ignored. The last reply from Spotify was over a year ago. I’m shocked.

This started a long time ago.  It's not that difficult.  Please add the feature.  It will make a difference to whether I get the family shared package or no subscription at all.

Need this feature for family accounts so kids can be part of the family and can set the button.

I've been a Spotify member for all of one hour and am now cancelling my account.  I can't believe a simple feature like blocking explicit language isn't default and yet has been repeatedly requested by the community since 2012!!! You clearly are never going to implement this feature, so know this, as the head of this family I will be cancelling my membership, and preventing all future memberships for my children.  We will use a different music service - one that understands households have mixed ages and with the introduction of voice activated devices like Google Home, supports appropriate parental controls.  You haven't just lost one user, but four.  And for the record, even if I didn't have kids I don't need to hear the F* bomb over breakfast - smarten up Spotify or get left behind.

Have a cafe and an explicit button is essential....

I love music but hate explicit language. Explicit language ruins my listening experience.  Would love the option to select an artist or album and to hear only radio edit and non explicit songs from them.
