[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Why!!!!

Mradams921

I may have to cancel my upgrade to family, because I can't have my kids listening to music un-filtered.

codystarr

I'm canceling my membership for this reason alone. This seems to be a gimme feature and really needed in order for Spotify to truly be a family friendly music platform.  The fact that people have been asking for it since 2012 and it's STILL not implemented tells me where it truly fits into your priority queue. I'm going to Apple Music.

Hi rlraymer

I also left Spotify because of this stupid issue and moved to Apple Music,
an inferior product but one which gives the user some discretion in
choosing the type of language she wants to listen to.

Hi Mradams921

Just do it! I did it.

My most recent rant at ‘SpotifyCares’ on Twitter, after they told me the situation was being closely monitored......

Closely monitoring? I’ve not been a customer long, but I have successfully recommended Spotify to several of my friends. However, this request if far from new. In fact the post I keep being referred to is almost 3 years old. It doesn’t take a genius to work out how beneficial it would be to your customers AND yourselves to make this option a priority. I would instantly have my partner and my children on the family plan should there be some control over the content. I’m staggered that it isn’t already part of the system. I’m even more surprised that no one is listening. I adore Spotify. I love its simplicity and how I can discover new things with a touch on the screen. The share option is also great. I’d like to be able to use Spotify to further educate my girls in the vast array of music that’s available to them. It would break my heart to find them listening to the manufactured junk that they are currently being subjected to by shows like the X Factor and the generic **bleep** that gets played on the radio. If Spotify truly cares then push this option and push it hard!

Yes, please add this capability. It is purely irresponsible not to have it. The world outside of Sweden is far less tolerant of rude words in songs when kids are listening. Please fix this in your next sprint!!!  Yours faithfully from an early adopting and loving, paying user :).

I have just moved to android from apple so I have signed up for the $1, 3 MONTH deal but after realising there was no filter immediately signed up with Google Play Music as it has a filter. If this filter isn't added within the 3 months I'll won't be continuing my subscription.
