[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Pretty poor spotify.
You hear the feedback but you are doing nothing to counter explicit material. I am not prude, nor innocent but I do not need my family to hear explicit material because an artist thinks it rhymns, or does not know any better or any other excuse . Please add the button to block explicit either on a song level , artist or at a membership level.
My preference is at a song level.

We need the block on membership level, and I as a parent want to manage the explicit content block for my children.

Almost 6 years of posts, and 404 pages requesting this, and no update on the status for a year and a half.

Can we please get a status update?

Wowzers - I recently signed up for the Spotify Family plan and was searching for a way to block explicit lyrics.  Found this community posting and thought maybe my comment to Spotify would be heard or make a difference.  Since posting (just a few days ago) I get multiple emails a day from others requesting the block feature.  After realizing this thread has been active for over 5 years, I’m guess that Spotify has received well over 10,000 requests (based on the number of emailed comments I’ve received in just a few days).  How discouraging that Spotify hasn’t responded with a solution.  My guess is they  unchecked the box that says - email me when someone replies.

Would someone be able to ask and link this on their Facebook pages and other social media?

How is this STILL not implemented?

And why are your support people, via twitter, constantly not understanding when someone tweets a song at them and says its not showing the "Explicit" tag, by coming back at the twitter user with "we don't sensor".

I just don't get it.  2012 .. and I'm sure that wasn't the earliest it was suggested to now 2018 ... SIX years?

I cancelled my family premium service last night. Spotify is deaf to this issue and isn't going to change. I'm moving to a French service called DEEZER which offers explicit filtering on its family accounts. It has a nice interface too and a great catalogue. Bye.

Hmmm.... I also get the same emails every day as more people and more people request this feature urgently with no reply from Spotify. Thinking I might just set a rule to autoforward all those emails as they come in on to spotify email accounts or even spotify twitter. Why doesnt everyone do the same?

I suspect the volume of request demand on here is not visible within spotify beyond ideas-admin and they may not influence roadmap significantly.  Like many on here, my 'family' subscription is now providing a stream of uncontrolled and unheard potentially explicit lyrics directly into the headphones of my young-ish kids. It was bad sharing a personal subscription, but Family makes it worse. <off to set up forwarding rules>

Spotify do not care about your sick children at the hospital. They're too
busy negotiating higher fees with artists in exchange for not implementing
this trivial filter.

I switched to Apple Music. Music-wise it's been a neat move. My kids all
have iphones and they're happy with it. They complained a bit because they
had their own playlists in Spotify but now they like Apple Music. The only
problem I had so far is in my family car: Apple Music in Android sometimes
has issues with the Bluetooth connection.
