[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Nobody with children wants to hear swear words in their music service. With the increased access to music from Alexa and voice controlled Sonos, etc. Children have a greater chance of being exposed.

If Spotify don’t do something soon they will lose my business and many others to a providers that can filter this. I already tell friends with children to stay away from Spotify (as I’m sure most people on this forum do). Even the UK charts playlists seem to be filling up with [E] tracks.

Spotify if you can’t filter explicit content (for whatever reason); please bring us “Radio Edit Playlists” today!

Is this actually going to be implemented? If not I have to cancel as I can’t listen when the kids are around

Not having this feature makes using spotify a real hassle when you have young children in the house.

You all need to tweet your feelings and leave appropriate reviews. This forum alone will not get your voices heard!

Tweeting them doesn’t make any difference, they just redirect you to this
forum, where they don’t read it. Then tell you it’s been given to the right
person,

has this been sorted yet?  i can't use this app with my children around

The buck stops here. Obviously someone at spotify is ultimately responsible but he chooses to sit on his gossamer **bleep** in his ivory tower and laugh at the "suggestion box" - for years. Even when those suggestions are turning into demands that he does something to prevent our children being led into and exposed to filth. Any comments you would care to make Daniel?

Another option is to create Radio Edit Playlists for different music genres. Some generic ones have been created, but they just are not that good. For example, one is a Top 40 edited playlist. However, it has all Top 40 Genres, so lots of country. No radio station would go all over like the genres like this. Just find some of the top radio stations in the country and create playlists that are regularly updated with these radio edits.

please add this. Please.

"We wanted to let you all know we still think this is a good idea. We don't have any specific updates for you on this but we hear your feedback that you are interested in filtering explicit content." Quote from an un-named spotify stooge in 2016. If it is such a good idea why can't they just put in the **bleep**ing filter before they feel obliged to feed us another pile of **bleep**? Of course some of my comments will be filtered as explicit, well done O noble Spotify
