[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

They can't afford to get this done now.  They are seriously underwater.  I almost couldn't care less if they go under at this point.

Spotify files IPO to go public, details years of losses

Yes please! Love Spotify, but NEED this!!

Mmayes3

It’d be a great idea especially before you go on public on the stock!!!! Don’t be stupid if your competitors already have them you should too!!! Don’t lose even more customers because of your failure to listen to our voices!!!

Why is this taking so long? I HATE that I can't explore and find good songs without getting words I don't want to hear. Please help me understand why you don't have this feature. Slacker has had it for years.

I suggest everyone who feels strongly about this makes this apparent lack of caring visible to ALL potential investors, that Spotify actively promotes the glorifcation of gun culture, uncensored profantity, sexualisation of women and rape, to children. I am sure Daniel Ek will take notice then.

Really wish that this feature would be added... A TON of people would switch to Spotify. But I guess it's Spotify's fault.

I cancelled today.

I killed my subscription to Pandora and now I am regretting it. I need to listen to music in public without worrying about the F-bomb being dropped ever so often. I have kids at home and they are sharing my account. Your help is greatly appreciated. You already have an EXPLICIT tag on the playlist, provide a button to look for the flag and disable playing that content.

This request for an explicit filter has been raised for at least  5 years.  For the last 5 years, Spotify has make tremendous improvements in user experience but why is this feature request continued to be ignored by Spotify Management, Product and Development  team?
