[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I have. I angrily asked to email a supervisor and they say this idea is at the highest level of “authority” to go to. Everyone that reads this: please email support@spotify.com and tell them they need this idea implemented!!!!!!!

Makes no difference what so ever, they may if you are lucky send you a generic automated email, telling you how to create a playlist, which is pretty useless, unless you have the time, which let’s face it no one has.
Because I receive all messages added to the post, I started forwarding them directly to support@spotify.com, hoping that that may do something about it eventually, but don’t hold your breath I have been doing it on every Message for over a year.

Really??  There is no way to turn off explicit content?!!  How hard can this be?  I just signed up for the "family" plan for my kids - know I'm rethinking this!!

It's not hard, they already have it built into their business plan, they just don't give a **bleep** about you or your family.

You need this! Especially for my youth group!

Any update on being able to limiting explicit content from my kids?

Cyberspace is a great place to hide. Would this happen if parents were able to put the point across face to face?

Unfortunatly spotify don’t do communication with their customers, so I dont
imagine they will ever update anyone.

Only interested in themselves and money

I just found my 10yo daughter listening to a song on her Amazon Echo full of explicit lyrics - f***ing, mo****f***ing etc.

Sorry everyone but I think it's pretty clear given how many and how long people have been asking for this. Despite it being probably a couple of days of developer's time to build, this is not a priority for Spotify because they basically don't care about protecting children.

I'm cancelling my subscription and switching to a service with parental controls as soon as I can find one that works.
