[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Great idea on Panorama. I've just emailed them. It would be interesting
to see what Spotify's IPO prospectus says about corporate and social
responsibility. Their attitude to this issue shows they don't give a
******* ****.

Hi all. Many new businesses have a model of doing the minimum in order to grow fast and go to the financial market or just keep ahead of the competition, despite the original idea answering often very well a consumer need. Uber now bend over backwards as they have put themselves in a position where they can be shut down city by city. But new businesses need to be as respectful as established businesses and actually be proactive and true to the day they first had a good idea that they thought would help people. Do the maximum not the minimum.

Sad u don’t offer simple need for so many people. Will have to get my music elsewhere.

Open a case ticket with customer support, take down the number and request for an update with a definite timeline. Having 5 over years to work on this is more than sufficient

We really need this. It's getting inconvenient to manually skip songs. Better yet, also add a feature that always skips certain songs (for the songs that have explicit lyrics, but Spotify has failed to label them accordingly).

Bad business model Spotify. Not listening to your customer is why you continue to lose $. Millions. Your growth is short term as most of your recent increase in revenue is related to "Microsoft Groove" customers being pushed over to Spotify late 2017 & early 2018. This is one Microsoft Groove customer "Canceling" and moving on to "Apple Music" and I won't be back.. Good Bye Spotify....

Unbelievable this isn't already available, especially as premium account feature.  Netflix controls this at account level for kids accounts.  With Spotify integrating with smart speakers, kids will access its service more and more, making it a greater risk to children.  Considering cancelling my subscription to Spotify since I now see how popular this request is, how long it's been requested, and how indifferent Spotify is to it.

Blessedjac

Yes this thread started in 2012.  Customer support responded this week that this feature will soon be released.

@Blessedjac

They did?! Really?!!?

Believe it when I see it. And then I'll move from ads to a full-fat family subscription. But I'm not holding my breath.
