[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

4 months later an no update?  That an eternity in the digital world.  I'm going to look at Pandora or Audible.  I can't have my young kids picking music to play with explicit lyrics.  Very strange that Spotify, for all it's good attributes, can't see this and address it.

How in the world has this not been done? There are threads from 2012 about this... Do you, uh, need us to crowd fund the coding or something?

I see that Apple Music offers it. Guess I'll be another premium subscriber leaving the fold. Weak. Sauce.

Dear All on this subject

Great conversation about the explicit button - if i can summarize:

* Other platforms offer explicit button - why can't spotify do this?
* How can you offer family packages without this?
* You offer radio services but then don't comply to OFCOM/local standards for radio

..and to my original complaint:..

* given your broad demographic including young, how can you push an explicit podcast called 'Guys we've f**ked' to the front page - this is not a case of algorithms, but proactive curation and marketing

Google music is great.

Please make this a bigger priority! I want to be able to listen to spotify with my family, on my own, and I want to be able to give spotify subscriptions as a gift. I can't do that without the option to filter content 😞 Thanks so much.

This request is years old. I think people deserve at least an update, a reason why it hasn't happened yet.
