[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I'm tired of hearing the words ho, **bleep** and **bleep** when I listen to Spotify. It makes it impossible to listen with my kids around, and I also don't appreciate hearing those words in my music. We need a button to click to filter out songs with explicit lyrics. Thousands of people have been requesting this. Just add the button already.

I have been considering purchasing a premium subscription but this feature is a deal breaker for me. If Spotify cannot add this I won't be willing to give them my money.

It's appalling that children are being exposed to explicit language. Will leave if this doesn't get sorted!

No one is listening at Spotify , how do we get them to listen . Maybe get which magazine or someone to review ?

the number of plays wouldn't change if the filter didn't skip explicit songs, but instead replaced them with radio edits.  SO that is no excuse.  how could the record companies complain about that?

I've waited too long already, just canceled my family subscription and went to Google play music where i can get a family subscription with an explict filter.

While the number of plays remains the same with a filter, the artist would differ. Some of the most popular artists today would be left with approximately 25% or less of their playlists if an explicit filter were applied. Go to the Global Top 50 and skim through the list. Any filter would hit these folks the hardest.

As mentioned above by another poster, Spotify is likely being paid enough by someone (don't know who) to counter the loss of families. There is no other reason not to have the filter. I only wish Spotify would be honest and say this is a business decision. I'd respect them more than by pretending to "care" for 5+ years.

Well, that's it.  I've just cancelled.  Probably the only way that they'll get the message.

Please share the issue on SOCIAL MEDIA and provide a link to this topic so others can join in the complaints and vote for this feature.

Please keep the idea alive so they get the word again and again. Spotify appears to be too stupid or blind to do anything about this.

ALSO, go to this page and vote against the "solution" because it is not a solution at all!! Utterly useless.

Getting close to child abuse. No - it IS child abuse. I wish Spotify would become so offended at being labeled as child abusers that they take me to court. Please.
