[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Spotify is used in many public forums. Gyms and Doctors offices, etc. There really needs to be an explicit button. Seems so simple. Most people find an artist and hit the artist radio but can't babysit the songs being played. It's a no-brainer. I don't understand the hesitations.

Great idea. I fully support this one. As a father and music lover, I would easily upgrade to family account if this was possible.

I will believe it when I see it

SIX YEARS and Spotify still can't figure this out??? Come on guys and get this issue fixed! I don't like listening to music with a lot of cuss words or nearly x-rated language, and I can't listen to any of your playlists with my kids around anymore because so many of the songs are explicit now. What is so difficult about creating a "skip explicit" feature or having a "top hits (non-explicit)" playlist?

Add me to the 6-year-long list of people asking for a setting to filter explicit content.  Surely your programmers have the ability to figure this out?

For goodness sake get it sorted! You can’t add a family option without being able to apply explicit lyric filters for when your children are listening!!!!!

7 years of people asking and Spotify haven't done this BASIC thing yet?

That's right, BASIC...

IF "UserSongRestrictions" = TRUE THEN

IF "SongExplicitTag"= TRUE THEN "SongDisplay"=FALSE

END IF

Really? REALLY?

(Yeah, yeah, I get Spotify isn't written in basic and that code is meant to be flippant. I could go on, but you get the general idea (as Morrissey once sang)).

how do you open a support chat session? I can't find it on the website anymore.

Get this done.  Not hard.  You already have the flag.

Spotify, have you no shame? I have children on my family account. Are you even aware that middle school age children are listening to Billy by 6ix9ine? If you have any sense of decency, how can you allow this on your service without a common sense filter?
