[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

As a new user - I am SHOCKED this isn't resolved. What is up with the inability to implement this? Clearly a choice by Spotify, it can not be technical hurdle.

I live in the United States and @Kaycinda's post prompted me to go file a complaint with the FCC (Federal Communication Commission).  If anyone else would like to do the same, you can go to https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=38824  .  This is the form for complaints about Internet Services.  I just selected "privacy" for the "Internet Issues" field because they didn't have one that fit.  (In the form for radio complaints, there is one for "Indecency", but then it asks for your "Radio Method", and there is not an option there for Internet.)  I am not sure where it will lead, but it seemed worth a try.

How is this still not a thing?

Please create a way to block explicit content

Come on already! Let us filter explicit. This is the music app of choice for my kids and all their friends. It really should be an option

There’s no excuse for not doing this - you have the technology. I will not let my kids (aged 7 and 😎 listen to spotify unmonitored without this. If this is not done soon, I will cancel my subscription.

Really like the App, but can't go for premium until this is in place. May have to reluctantly go to Apple Music.

Please do this.  You are able to identify which are explicit and which are not; so this should be a very simple features to enable.  The impact of explicit music on families, including my own, is massive.  Please be responsible and make this possible.  I have a family account as my family love to listen to music of all types, but the level of swearing is becoming more and more; please help me and enable this simple feature.

Hey, if you think Spotify should have a simple option to block explicit content from being played, take 30 seconds, vote, comment, and then invite your friends on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media to do the same.
It was first suggested 6 years ago, it has almost 12,000 votes, and yet, Spotify has not implemented this important feature. If we really want it we have to show them. #spotifyexplicitbutton #forthekids #spotifyusersforfamilies #pleaseshare
