[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Ditto from me.  I would love the ability to block explicit lyrics.  Pandora has that option and I used it.  Dumb me, I cancelled Pandora cause I assumed Spotfy would have this option too! Bye Spotify! Going back to Pandora til you add this feature.

Now that you interface with the interwebs, you need this button so I can use your service while I'm working. I'd buy Spotify if I could guarantee if it had a feature like this

Totally agree with getting a parental control on Spotify for both sides: As a hip-hop/rap fan I hate it when a track has 'ish' and 'uff' in place of the normal lyric and as a parent i'm often suprised when I hear expletives in the latest track from <insert Top 40 artist here> that my 6yo likes to listen to!

It would be nice, IMO, if the clean and explit albums could be merged - when parental controls are enabled you get the clean version, when disabled you get the explicit - although I appreciate this would probably be a mamoth task with the catalogue.

Failing that, a simple enable/disable Parental Advisory/Explict tag would be good 🐵

I listen to spotify at work but I get scared that the f...bomb is about to explode on my customers. I would love to listen without fearing the worst #comeonspotify

it would also be helpful to add an information behind the track name [explicit] in an extra slot so you can see if it is the explicit version or not .. like in itunes for example!

I'm frustrated that you don't have this feature. I'm going to have to start using Pandora instead of Spotify when my kids are around. .

gonna have to move back to pandora if this isnt fixed.  i am on trial, glad i did, this is ridiculous.  such an easy option, i just assumed spotify would have it.

Spotify is everywhere now... I play it at work, in my car, on my tv, on my computer, on my phone and iPad. With so much ubiquity it would be fantastic to be able to turn off the explicit lyrics and/or have radio edits of songs. Turning off explicit lyrics would be preferable.

Please add a content filter! I'd like to be able to play songs without worrying about foul language around kids, family, or at work, or in the class room. Should definitely be a basic function of the web player. Thanks!

I would also like the opposite feature: When a clean song comes up that has an explicit version, prefer the explicit version. Censored versions annoy me when I'm listening on my own because it really interrupts the flow of the song. Makes it almost unlistenable for some styles of music. Maybe the feature could be a switch: Prefer clean | Prefer explicit | Don't care.
